Recognizing Autism in an Early Childhood Setting
Recognizing Autism in an Early Childhood Setting
We have the ability to recognize early signs of autism in children age birth through 3yrs old which can be a critical time to provide early intervention services.
Autism is a developmental and neurological disorder that affects each child differently but can impact language, communication, social skills and behavior.
1 in 44 children are diagnosed with autism in America, however the average age of diagnosis is over 4yrs old leaving missed opportunity for early detection and intervention. But together, we can change that.
Early Intervention is provided for Free through the Infants and toddlers program and is an extension of the IDEA ensuring a fair and appropriate education for children with disabilities. Research has shown that children who have access to these services at a younger age do better in school and have a better quality of life.
